space invaders with real life arcade drones

Just 10 days ago the Geekcon 2016, and in it vHive took the opportunity to present the first Space invaders formed by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or what is the same, a Space Invaders made with drones. More than one of them will surely come to mind regrettable movie Pixels… Nothing to see!

Drones + Space Inveaders: SpacedOut

The project is called SpacedOut and it basically consists of a group of drones equipped with LEDs, which adopt a flight formation controlled by aviation software expressly programmed to emulate arcade movements.

On the other hand, on the ground is the player, who uses a turret to fire a laser beam and knock down the Martians. The player’s seat is mounted on rails allowing horizontal movement.

Here you have the video with the feat:

13 people have been involved in the project, including programmers, designers and ‘craftsmen’. It should also be noted that SpacedOut has had the sponsorship of Google IsraelA fact that will surely have served to give the project a good push in order to gain more visibility.

If you are interested and want to know more, they have also made a short video of a couple of minutes showing the process of the ‘making of‘.

As you can see, the idea is not short of ingenuity, and it would surely look great in any of these modern amusement parks. Retro is more fashionable than ever!
